Visiting Safely – What You Need To Know
We want to welcome visitors to our New York State senior care communities safely and in compliance with new guidelines from the New York State Department of Health. These guidelines have been established to help protect residents from COVID-19 exposure at all New York State Skilled Nursing Facilities.
When Visitation Is Open
Please take note of the following requirements for visitation. Visitors must:
- Schedule an appointment with the facility
- Present proof of a negative COVID-19 test result administered within 7 days of your visit (Facilities that had already scheduled visitation under previous guidance may allow visitation without the presentation of a verified negative test result for a transition period until September 24, 2020) End of life and compassionate care visits are not subject to a verified negative test result but are subject to all other COVID-19 screening requirements
- Pass a brief health screening at the facility, including a temperature check and a brief questionnaire
- Wear a face covering throughout your visit
- Maintain social distance

COVID-19 Testing Resources
Need a COVID-19 test? You can obtain an appointment for a COVID-19 test by visiting
here or by calling (888) 364-3065. You can also contact your county’s health department for additional COVID-19 testing resources near you.
Elderwood does not provide COVID-19 testing services for visitors.
When Visitation Is Restricted
Visitation must be restricted under certain circumstances, including if a resident or staff member tests positive for COVID-19. Restrictions must be maintained for 14 days from the most recent COVID-19 test result.
